Performed by Matthew Robinson for Satellite Dance's production of Storyscapes.

Directed by Sarah Atenhan, Storyscapes features day-in-the-life stories of library patrons and the free resources they use, expressed through aerial, dance, and theater. From puzzling daredevils to brave, howling youngsters, we will share many stories—and maybe yours, too.

The Traveler is based on a real patron who traveled from table to table to share his life adventures and accomplishments. Were they true? Most likely not, but they were true to his heart, hopes, and dreams. Matthew's beautifully crafted monologue, which is not included in this excerpt due to sound issues, reinforces the character's experience.

Two versions of a similar choreographic phrase demonstrate the traveler's experience's external and internal aspects. The external phrase (1) is quiet and non-confrontational, while the internal phrase (2) reflects an inner turmoil of unrealized potential.
